Botsiya the clown’s aquarium fish: photos, keeping and feeding, breeding and breeding

Aquarium fish fighting clown (Botia macracantha) lives in rivers of Thailand and the island of Sumatra. Often, representatives of this species can be seen in aquariums of professionals and amateurs, while, as a rule, individuals that are caught in nature go on sale. This fish belongs to the family of loaches.

It has a rounded long body, sharp thorns under the eyes, there is no protective skin around the eyes. Around the mouth of the fish are 4 pairs of whiskers.

As for the color of the body, it can be from yellow to reddish with green tint. The dorsal fins are colored black, the caudal and abdominal – red or black. 3 black lines cross the body.

If the clown fight feels dangerous, it makes sounds like clicks. Under natural conditions, individuals of this species can grow up to 30 cm, in an aquarium – up to 15 cm.

Very much the size of the tank affects the size of bots. The average life expectancy of representatives of this family is 5-8 years.

Many aquarists contain fish of this species in small groups of 5-7 individuals. Bots that live in packs are not afraid of other inhabitants of the aquarium and can be kept with other fish.

Aquarium for fighting clowns should not be very bright, these fish are trying to keep closer to the bottom – there they are looking for food and hide in case of danger. In the tank there must be caves and snags, as the fish only spend the night in shelters. As for water, it should be warm, 25-28 degrees.

Often, because of the general needs of the fighting, they are kept together with discus, they are not aggressive and get along well with the same peace-loving species.

Bats clowns can not live in water with high rigidity, it should be in the range of 5-10, the pH of the water can vary from 6 to 8. Also in the aquarium should be good aeration and filtration. Boths are omnivores, they can feed on plant leaves, live or dry food. Bionia clowns are active in the dark, so during the day they are difficult to notice.

They like to rest for a long time, lying on the bottom of the bottom or stones.

• These inhabitants of the aquarium are schooling fish, if the fish contain one in the aquarium, it will be shy and will constantly hide in a cave;
• Representatives of this family are very difficult to breed in captivity, even experienced aquarists are not always able to select;
• The fighting has not expressed sexual characteristics at all, so it is very difficult to determine where the female is, and where the male is.

You can buy a clown fight in a specialized kennel. The price of fry clown fry can be found on the bulletin board.
