Botsiya dwarf (Yunnanilus cruciatus) – content, breeding

Botsiya dwarf striped (Yunnanilus cruciatus) Striped was first described in 1944.

Names are synonyms: Yunnanilus cruciatus, Vietnamese combat, multilander loach, fighting zebra.

Habitat: inhabits Central Vietnam. It prefers shallow reservoirs, slow flowing river sections, backwaters, ponds and lakes.

In such bodies of water there is a soft sandy bottom and dense thickets of various plants.

Description: golden elongated body, transverse black-chocolate stripes are located on the entire surface. Their number ranges from 14-18 pieces. If the fish is under stress, the strips may become discolored.

The longitudinal strip running from the eyes to the tail, at the base of which is a black spot, is poorly visible. Transparent fins with very thin black stripes. The dorsal fin consists of 8 branched rays.

In the center of the upper lip there are 2 large papilla.

Males are smaller and sleeker than females.

The average size of dwarf bots living in an aquarium is 3.5 cm.

Arrangement and parameters of the aquarium: contain multiband loach can be in a small capacity, but be sure to flock, the more fish, the better.

She prefers shelter from dense vegetation, plexuses of twigs and snags. It avoids bright light; a partial shade should be created in the aquarium with the help of floating plants.

Striped combat (Yunnanilus cruciatus) spend a lot of time exploring the bottom, in connection with this, the ground needs a soft, sandy, so that the fish do not damage their delicate antennae.

Water parameters: 23-27 ° C (withstands a decrease in temperature to 18 and an increase to 30 degrees), pH 6-7, dH 2–12.

Yunnanilus very difficult to tolerate transportation, to reduce stress, the fish can be run only in mature aquariums.

Vietnamese combat is compatible with small and peace-loving species of fish.

Nutrition: in nature they eat zooplankton, in the aquarium, given the very good appetite of the cruciatusians, they take any kind of food, as long as it is small enough.

From frozen and alive, daphnia, crushed bloodworm, tubule and cyclop are suitable, from dry – small plates and granules. Occasionally you can treat the fish with pounded bread crumbs, scalded semolina, egg and slices of vegetables.

Basically pick up food from the bottom, as well as leaves, snags and stones. Despite the peaceful temper and tiny size dwarf battle (Yunnanilus cruciatus) able to push the smaller neighbors from the feeder.

Reproduction: isolated cases of reproduction of dwarf fighting in aquariums.

Mostly dilution takes place with the help of special injections, but it is possible without them.

30-liter aquarium for spawning is filled with water at 3/4, the temperature is set to 24-25 ° C. It is highly undesirable to change the remaining parameters of the water, the fish begin to experience prolonged stress.

To reduce it, the aquarium is darkened on three sides. Need a soft ground and thickets of plants.

Not superfluous will be a weak current formed by the filter and light aeration.

Fish are placed in the spawning group – 4 females and 2 males. For a whole week nothing can happen, the fishes will behave in constraint, refusing food.

At this time, the water is replaced by 5-10% every other day. Gradually, the fighting is being mastered and can begin to spawn. The readiness of the fish for spawning is manifested in the nervousness and fussiness of the male, who, swimming behind the female, all the time pushes her into the abdomen with his head.

The female throws several very small eggs, sticking them to the glass. Manufacturers after spawning settle out, the water level drops to 5 cm.

Eggs are incubated for a long time – about three days. Up to two weeks of age, fry are almost impossible to detect in spawning. All the time they keep the bottom, hiding among the stones and plants.

As they grow older, they begin to swim more and more frequently in the aquarium and constantly feed on (very crushed bloodworms). Grow unevenly, at the age of 2 weeks grow to 10-15 mm.

Characteristic for adults Botsiya dwarf striped (Yunnanilus cruciatus) the strips appear by the age of three weeks, and in a month the fry already become a mini-copy of the adult individuals, both in behavior and in appearance.
