The underwater world fascinates and delights. The life of its inhabitants has attracted the attention of people from ancient times.

Today, hundreds of varieties of its magnificent representatives. That is why even experienced aquarists are likely to find it difficult to answer the question: “Which aquarium fish are the most beautiful?”

In our short review are very beautiful specimens. Each reader will be able to decide for himself which of the fish deserves the title of the most beautiful.

The most beautiful aquarium fish (photos and names will be presented below) – the dream of any connoisseur of the underwater world. One of these representatives is the royal tetra.

The birthplace of this small fish is Colombia. It is endemic (a species that lives only in this region) of the Atrato and San Juan rivers.

Occurs in places where the flow is not too intense, in small streams and tributaries flowing into rivers. Under natural conditions, it is not very common, and in the home is a popular inhabitant of many aquariums.

As a rule, all the specimens found on sale, derived by artificial means. Perhaps, someone will consider that this is not the most beautiful aquarium fish, but in fact it is very effective: attractive coloring, elegant body shape and activity are qualities for which this fish was called royal.

Despite the fact that it settled in aquariums relatively recently (about forty years ago), it has already earned great popularity.

Tetra has a small size (up to five centimeters) and lives in the aquarium for about five years. Fish unpretentious.

She feels quite comfortable in the general aquarium, but it should be remembered that she is a pack, so you need to keep more than five copies.

The most unpretentious and small aquarium fish with photos

I think many aquarium fish experts will agree that the first place is given to guppes.

Everyone probably knows these fish … even those who have never seen aquariums. We can say that these fish are the fish of all children of the former USSR (they were in all Soviet aquariums))).

The fish is very beautiful and unpretentious. The tail fin is her beauty.

The simplicity of the fish is that it can withstand “difficult conditions of detention.” I happened to see an aquarium with guppies. without aeration, without filtering, without plants, without proper feeding etc. – horror, terrible dream aquarist. Nevertheless, guppies managed not only to survive in such an aquarium, but even tried to multiply.

So to mock the fish of course not worth it. But their endurance and vitality sometimes affects.

GUPPI – THIS IS A SYMBIOSIS: BEAUTY, INSENSITIVENESS AND EASY + SUPPLEMENTS REPLACE ARE “LIKE A KROL” INDEPENDENTLY – YOU WILL ALWAYS BE UPDATED OF “AQUARIUM PAINTS” Read about the GUPPI read more

2nd place Swordtails

A very famous fish, as a result of persistent selection, a large number of swordtails of various colors and shapes were bred. Males differ from females by the presence of a “sword” on the lower edge of the caudal fin.

Swordtails are kept in flocks in a densely planted aquarium. The minimum size of the aquarium from 10 liters (but better is more).

A good volume of aquarium for a small group of swordtails is 50 liters.

An interesting fact about these fish is that the female swordtail can, at some point, become a male, i.e. change the floor. This is due to the struggle for the survival of the species.

HOW AND GUPPI ARE RECOMMENDED, ALL THOSE WHO DO NOT WANT TO DEAD WITH THE AQUARIUM.

Read about swordsmen more in detail here.

3rd place Somiki corridors

It should begin with the fact that all aquarium catfish – a priori unpretentious. Moreover, they are “orderlies of the aquarium world”: they clean the soil and eat the remnants of life activity. The corridors are chosen from all catfish, since

in addition to the gill, they have intestinal respiration, those. if aeration stops, they will live for a long time.

The fish are very peaceful, calm. They slowly swim along the bottom in search of food. In the aquarium they are usually kept in flocks.

Fish, do not pose any threat to other inhabitants of the aquarium.

You can read more about CORRIDORATUS here.

4th place Mollies

Molly, like guppies – viviparous fishes. Unpretentious and tolerant of poor conditions.

Nevertheless, they are more capricious than the “troika of winners”.

Fish suitable for beginners and young aquarists. The fishes most difficult to keep from all members of the family are demanding of their conditions, they do not tolerate low temperatures, some like “salty” water, like bright light, etc.

You can read more about MOLLINESIA here.

5th place Tetras – Harazinki

All tetras are small, brisk, not capricious fishes. However, they will not be able to survive in “Spartan conditions” as guppies.

They need aeration and filtration. You can keep them in an aquarium by a group (from 5 individuals) with a volume of at least 35 liters of water.

You can read more about TETRAH here.

6th place Ternetsii

Very famous little fish. Fish energetic, mobile.

Fish get along well with other types of fish. Somehow my terntions even lived with small cichlids. Recommended aquarium with a volume of at least 30 liters of water, densely planted with plants.

Aeration, filtration – yes!

You can read more about TERNIA here.

7th place Danio (rerio, pink)

Starting from the 5th place TOP, all the fish require unpretentious attention. Tanks are different from them – briskness and speed of movement.

They can coexist with many species of fish, even with fish of medium and increased aggression: scalar, goura and even with small cichlids.

Read more about DANIO here.

8th place Torakatum

One of the famous large catfish of the aquarium world and excellent attendants of the aquarium. Peaceable and unpretentious to the content. They can be kept in a common aquarium with thickets of plants and a large number of shelters.

Fish, do not pose any threat to other inhabitants of the aquarium. Compatible with all kinds of fish.

The neighbors are not recommended only one hundred percent aggressors and predators.

You can read more about TORAKATUM here.

9th place Gourami

Gourami – are medium sized fish. Entered in this TOP due to gill labyrinth – fish do not need aeration, they breathe atmospheric air.

Really peaceful fish, but sometimes aggression. Some individuals taken separately are even very aggressive, as they say, as lucky.

You can read more about GURAMs here.

10 place Barbus

Barbusses are schooling, small fish that can stand up for themselves! If you decide to start a barbus, I recommend to allocate for this a separate aquarium, “barbusyatnik.”

“Pirate” temper, the ability to stand up for themselves – deserve 10th place. You can read more about BARBUSH here.

Of course, the above TOP is conditional – always remember the words

An interesting video about unpretentious and small aquarium fish

Additionally, we invite you to view a large photo collection of small and unpretentious aquarium fish

Small aquarium fish, males are smaller than females, the length of aquarium species is 4-5 cm. Peace-loving creatures do not touch their neighbors. However, large and predatory fish can offend them.

You can not keep with aquarium sharks, sword, giant gourami, pangasius. It is also not recommended to settle in with them barbs and crescents, who like to tear off the fins to beautiful fish.

They are well accustomed to neon rastorami cardinals, speckled catfish, tarakatuma. It should be settled in one tank a small flock of 5 fish, in such numbers they will be comfortable and safe.

At this number of fish enough 20-50-liter aquarium.

Predatory aquarium fish have larger body sizes, and may be aggressive towards their relatives, or other species of fish. They are carnivorous (eat meat).

The most famous scaly predators in aquariums are cichlids and akaras, piranhas, astronotus, polypteruses, scalarias, discus, haplochromis and other small fishes. About some popular species you need to know in more detail.

Popular and beautiful predators from home aquariums

Many fish of the family Tsikhlovye (Tsikhlidy) in the natural habitat are carnivorous, prey on animals. In captivity, they show a peaceful disposition, if they live in a pair, apart from other fish. People get used to, do not pose a threat to him.

These predatory fishes have a very beautiful body color, their nervous system is especially developed. Body length is 8-80 cm.

African and South American cichlids require a large amount of space; they get along poorly with small and calm fish. Have a habit of spoiling bottom plants by digging them with the ground.

During the spawning period, they are especially aggressive – they can drive their neighbors, or even eat them if they see a threat to caviar and fry.

Akars, cichlids from South America, love to terrorize their neighbors in the aquarium. The body is large, 30 centimeters, the body can be a motley color with a shimmering shimmer.

They have a large head, thick lips and a large mouth, which allows them to grab large meals. On the frontal part of the males you see a massive fatty growth. It is also territorial fish that do not get along well with other representatives of the underwater world.

Cancer has a hard character, but they do not enter into frank fights. You can not settle for small fish and slow.

Look at the confrontation between turquoise cancer and catfish clarias.

Long-eared Haplochromis – beautiful fish, representatives of the Cichlow family. They are also called “cichlid-knives” because of the long muzzle.

Body size 18-20 cm, color blue scales, fins painted in red and orange tone. The danger from haplokhromis is such that when attacking other fish, it actually eats their eyeballs.

They react poorly to small, defenseless fish, and fish with bright, brilliant color scales. It is recommended to settle in one aquarium with medium fish: cichlids, scalars and barbs.

Aggression fish haplokhromis can be minimized if it is placed in a spacious tank of 200 liters, where there are many shelters and swimming places.

Place a tank for predatory fish in a calm, well-lit corner. The larger the size of the aquarium, the better for all the fish. Predatory pets need optimal water parameters, do not tolerate temperature fluctuations, which also provokes aggressive behavior.

The parameters of the aquatic environment need to be adjusted by instruments, any changes affect the overall condition. Filtration, aeration should be permanent.

Decorate the water landscape with snags, caves, stones, clay pots, water broad-leaved plants with a strong root system. The easiest way to contain predators tsihlazom and cancer because of the larger size and simplicity. Smaller predators require serious training aquarist.

Do not immerse hands in the tank with water, treated with cosmetics, or scratched, with bruises. Carnivorous species can attack a wounded arm and damage it.

Look at the feeding of predatory aquarium fish.

Predatory aquarium fish just will not attack their neighbors or people. If this happens, then there are reasons for it, among them may be:

  • Desire to satisfy your appetite, hunger;
  • The desire to defend their territory;
  • Spawning and protection of offspring;
  • Conflict between males over a female, or dominant behavior;
  • Similar body color, or bright body color of another fish;
  • The small size of the body of neighbors, their sluggishness;
  • Aggressive human behavior.

When settling it is necessary to take into account that representatives of one species get along better with each other. Exceptions are barbs, polypteruses, sharks, piranhas and other species that live better alone, or in very spacious tanks with other fish. African cichlids do not live with South American for the reason that they need different water parameters.

Dwarf cichlids live well with apistograms, patsils, mollies, scalars, and pelminochromis.

Do not settle small herbivorous fish with predatory, all aquarian inhabitants must be proportionate, have the same taste habits. Feed everyone in time.

Make sure that during the holidays someone feeds your pets, otherwise those who are stronger will destroy the weaker ones. Feed predatory fish in small portions 2 times a day. The abundance of animal feed with protein content is the key to their well-being.

If a hungry predator decides to eat another fish, he can wait for it for a long time from an ambush. Try to avoid such moments, create the most comfortable conditions for all pets.
