Aquarium fish Ternetia (Black Tetra): photos, content and feeding, reproduction and breeding

Ternesia (Gymnocorymbus ternetzi) – This is a warm-water peace-loving fish, which can often be found in many aquariums. It belongs to the order of the Kharacinas, and also the terntions are called black tetras.

For the first time, representatives of this species were described by George Albert, a Belgian-British ichthyologist and zoologist. Under natural conditions, ternation prefers to dwell in sluggish reservoirs of Brazil and Paraguay.

The shape of the body of the thorns is really original – it resembles a rhombus, there are two fins on the back, one of them with hard rays, and the other is rounded, it plays the role of fat. The tail fin of the thorny fork, from the tail itself extends abdominal, very similar to a fan. The body on the sides is somewhat flattened, the main color is silver, along which there are three transverse stripes.

The first crosses the gills, the second – the eye of a fish, the third – the dorsal fin. In young fish coloring is more intense than in adults.

Tetras grow up to 4-5 centimeters, live 3-4 years.

Thorns is a peace-loving fish, it must be kept in a flock. For 6-7 individuals, an aquarium of 30-40 liters is needed, if the tetra contain one, it can become aggressive.

Peace-loving species such as guppies, swordtails and petilia are suitable as neighbors. The soil is better to choose a small, dark shade – on its background silver fish look very attractive. In the aquarium should be present plants, lighting – muted, acidity 6.8-7.

Every two weeks you need to change a quarter of the water, be sure to equip the aquarium aerator and filter. You can feed with live feeds – coretroy, daphnia, shallow knitters, cyclops.

For spawning, the female and male are seated and fed abundantly. A spawning tank should have a volume of 30-40 liters, cover the bottom with small-leaved plants.

The optimum temperature is 24-26 degrees. Spawning begins in the morning, the female lay 600-1000 eggs, the male fertilizes them, after which the producers are deposited.

The incubation period is one day, after 3-4 days the fry begin to swim and eat.
