Aquarium fish Telescope (Demekin): photo, content and feeding, reproduction and breeding

Telescope (Carassius auratus moor, Butterfly telescope) – fish, which is also called a demekinom or a water dragon. This is the result of the work of many breeders.

A characteristic feature of telescopic fish is a rounded body, the tail fin is elongated, two-bladed, its length can be up to three-quarters of the total body length. On the back the fin stands vertically, the other fins have a voile shape.

Why did they call the fish a telescope? – Due to the characteristic shape of the eyes: bulging, large (up to 2 cm), these eyes attract attention. In Shanghai, individuals were bred, whose eye diameter was 5 centimeters.

If the telescope has a tail fin in the form of a ribbon, the fish is called a ribbon fin, and if in the form of a skirt it is called a skirt. Individuals with a velvety black color and red fins are very beautiful, they are also called pandas.

But, if the body is white and the fins are black, telescopes are called magpie. The eyes of the fish should be symmetrical.

Telescopes are pretty peace-loving fish, so the neighbors for them need to pick the same ones. The minimum volume of the aquarium for a telescope is 50 liters, it is desirable to keep the fish in flocks of 5 to 8 individuals. In a ten-liter tank fit one, maximum two fish.

The soil is light sand or pebbles, also place large-leaved plants in the aquarium, equip it with a filter and an aerator. It is worth remembering that the eyes are easily damaged by telescopes, so fast and aggressive fish are not the best neighbors for such pets.

Water temperature can be 20-23 degrees, hardness – up to 25 units, pH – 6.0-8.0. Weekly a quarter of the water from the entire volume of the aquarium should be changed.

Feed telescopes can be twice a day, it is desirable to arrange them and fasting days, do not overfeed pets.

Spawning lasts from April to September, males are inferior in size to females. Having chosen the producers (1 female and a pair of males), they are planted in the spawning farm, but before that they are kept separately for about a month and are fed abundantly. Aquarium can have a volume of 50-80 liters, with soil and small-leaved algae.

The spawning period is several hours; females spawn up to 3000 eggs. Parents are removed, the next day you can remove unfertilized whitened eggs, replace part of the water.

The fry appear on the 5-6 day, they are fed with “live dust”, then with artemia and rotifers, a pipe builder.
