Aquarium fish Rainbow fish: photos, keeping and feeding, breeding and breeding

The size of the rainbow fish is up to 7 cm. The rainbow fish lives in the northern waters of Australia. The male is colored brighter than the female.

All species of this family are primarily marine. Their distant ancestors penetrated from the seas into the mouths of fresh-water rivers and then, climbing upstream, settled in water bodies.

Some of them then went downstream again and began to live in brackish waters. But all of them are united by the love of pure, flowing, brackish, slightly alkaline water and bright sunlight. They contain a flock in spacious aquariums, moderately planted with plants and brightly lit.

The rainbow fish feeds on live and dry food, including small insects. Required filtration and aeration of water. The species gets on with any peace-loving fish.

It should be borne in mind that for the maintenance of the rainbow fish need hard and slightly alkaline water. The content is possible either with other members of the family, or with small African cichlids (for example, yulidohromis ornatus), or with live-bearing tooth-toothed. Water for content: GH above 10 °; pH from 7.0 to 8.0; t 21-24 ° C.

Water is salted with table salt (1 tablespoon per 10 liters of water). Breeding is easy, as spawning is constant after reaching maturity. With mass breeding, it is desirable that the females predominate.

Caviar of the Rainbow Fish is fixed on the plants with the help of sticky threads. Producers do not eat caviar, so breeding is possible in the aquarium for maintenance. it is enough to transfer the plants with caviar to a separate settler. Water for breeding: GH about 15 °; pH about 7.5; t 25-27 ° C.

Need spawning 25-30 liters with a bunch of small plants and aeration point or filter. The producers are planted for 7-10 days and after the first fry are released, the incubation of eggs lasts 7-10 days, the larvae hang for 2 days on the walls of the aquarium and plants, then the fry begin to swim. At this time they begin to feed.

Starter feed – artemia. To feed the fry of the Rainbow fish is easy if you monitor the water quality (especially the pH value).

Each female throws 5-15 eggs a day. Fish reach sexual maturity after 7 months.

You can buy a rainbow fish in a specialized nursery. The price of fry of the Rainbow fish can be found on the bulletin board.

Pictures and photos of the rainbow fish can be found in the species and breeds section.
