Aquarium fish Nanostomus margenatus: photo, content and feeding, reproduction and breeding

The size of the Nanostomus Margenatus is up to 4 cm. It lives in the waters of British Guiana.

The female differs from the male in a more rounded abdomen and coloration of the anal fin. Marganatus nanostomuses live in slow-flowing or standing bodies of water, closed from direct light by trees, with lined foliage and branches at the bottom. The water in such reservoirs is rich in tannins and humic acids, which must be considered when keeping and breeding this species.

Nanostomus margenatus, or dwarf nanostomus most brightly colored and the most popular representative of the species. It has a small mouth, this must be taken into account when choosing food. It prefers to keep a flock in the middle and upper layers of the water, where you should leave areas free from vegetation for swimming.

Differences in day and night colors are less pronounced than in other members of the genus. Before spawning producers, it is advisable to sit for 2 weeks, they become sexually mature after 10 months. They spawn all year round, and the life in an aquarium is about 4 years.
