Aquarium fish Goldfish: photos, content and feeding, breeding and breeding

Goldfish (Carssius auratus) – one of the most popular aquarium fish, deservedly loved by aquarists for their attractive appearance and peaceful temper. There are several varieties of goldfish, let’s talk about each of them.

Stargazer / em. This kind of goldfish is also called the celestial eye.

The stargazer body is round, egg-shaped. A characteristic feature of this goldfish are telescopic eyes, because of which it received its name. The color of an orange-golden astrologer fish, in artificial conditions, it grows to 15 centimeters.

For the maintenance of astrologer fish you will need an aquarium from 100 liters for 2-3 fish. Water hardness – up to 25, pH 6-8, temperature 18-23 degrees, filtration and aeration is obligatory.

You can not keep these fish with aggressive individuals like barbs or cichlids. Astrologers love to rummage in the ground, so choose pebbles or coarse sand, plants are better to choose large and cheap, with a good root system.

The amount of feed should not exceed 3% by weight of the fish.

Water eyes. This variety was obtained as a result of breeding Chinese goldfish, in the aquarium water eyes grow to 15-20 centimeters. The body of fish is egg-shaped, with a low back, head profile smoothly turning into the profile of the back.

The color varies, the most common are brown, orange and silver colors. In the eyes of individuals there are characteristic bubbles, as if hanging down on both sides of the head, they are very vulnerable, therefore it is possible to keep these goldfish only with peaceful species.

The temperature of the water in the aquarium is 20-24 degrees, pH 6.0-8.0, hardness up to 18. Be sure to equip the tank with a filter and aeration, change the water weekly to a third of the volume, you need to feed your pets twice a day.

Vualekhvost. The representatives of this species have a short ovoid body. The head is large, slightly disproportionate, with large eyes.

A veiltail can have a different color – from a single golden to a rich black or red. The anal and caudal fin of the fish is double, elongated, painted in a transparent golden color.

They have a very beautiful tail – in some individuals the size of the fin is 5-6 times the length of the body. Fish grow up to 10 centimeters, tail – up to 30 cm.

Keep the voilehvostov need in a comfortable spacious aquarium, water temperature 20-22 degrees, pH 5.0-7.8, equip the tank with filter and aeration, keep the voilahvostov with peaceful fish, because predators can tear off their fins. These fish are quite voracious, give them food in moderation, you can feed them with live and vegetable food.

Pearl. Very unusual and beautiful fish, whose birthplace is China. It has a rounded torso, up to 8 centimeters long, a vertical dorsal fin, short other fins.

The tail fin is cut up, does not hang down, therefore the small fish swims a little awkwardly. The paint is dominated by orange-red or golden color, but there are also albino fish.

The scales are convex, so with the right lighting it seems that the fish is covered with small pearls. The conditions of the fish are not demanding, the water temperature in the aquarium should be 20-23 degrees, pH 5.0-8.0, hardness – up to 18. Filtration and aeration are required, the presence of large-leaved plants and soil in the aquarium.

Food – live and vegetable, the main thing – do not overfeed their pets.

Comet. These fish got their name because of an elongated tail that resembles a ribbon.

It is believed that this species was bred in America in the 1880s. However, some aquarists believe that Japan is home to the comet.

They grow up to 18 centimeters, somewhat resemble a voilehvostov. The tail of the tape, forked, the color of the fish can be different, especially individuals whose color of the body is different from the fins are appreciated.

Often the main tone is red-orange, sometimes with white or yellow color. In the aquarium, comets live for up to 15 years, they are not demanding in conditions of detention, but you cannot overfeed pets.

The water temperature in the aquarium should be 20-23 degrees, the rigidity – up to 18, pH 5.0-8.0, there is aeration, filtration, large-leaved plants, a large ground.

Oranda. This species of goldfish has a characteristic feature – on its head is a growth in the form of a cap.

The egg-shaped body, but not flat, has similar features to the tail tail. Color variations are quite a lot: chocolate, red, black, red and white. You need to keep an orange in a spacious aquarium, they are very sensitive to chemical impurities.

The water temperature is 20-22 degrees, the rigidity is up to 18, pH 5.0-8.0. Choose coarse sand or pebbles as soil, take care of shelters and plants for shade, do not overfeed fish, they are quite voracious.

Ranchu. Japan is considered to be the ranch homeland, it is an artificially bred species, translated from Japanese, the name means “created in orchid”.

The fish has a colorful appearance: it has a short rounded body, but the tail fin and back have rather sharp silhouettes. The shape of the caudal fin is triangular, and the dorsal fin is completely absent.

There are a lot of color options: chocolate, black, orange, metal. Breeders even crossed a lionhead and ranch, getting another original look. The ranch will feel comfortable in an aquarium, the water temperature of which is 18-22 degrees, hardness up to 25, pH 6.0-8.0, with filtration and aeration.

The soil is large, the plants should be with a strong root system and wide leaves, 50 liters of water should be used for 1 individual.

Shubunkin. Another representative of the “golden” carp family.

Shubunkin was bred by Japanese breeders and is suitable for keeping in spacious aquariums or ponds. In Japanese, the name is pronounced sibunkin. It was first brought to Russia in the 20s of the last century.

The fins of the fish are very similar to the fins of the comet, but the tail fin is forked. A characteristic feature of this species is the transparent scales, for which the fish received the nickname “Scaleless.”

The color of the fish is variegated, there are blue, yellow, red, black colors. Blue color appears only in the 2-3 year of life of the individual. Shubunkins are not demanding to the content: for a pair, an 80-liter aquarium is enough, it is very important not to overfeed pets and not to keep them with aggressive fish.

Water temperature – 15-28 degrees, pH – 6-8, hardness 20, the soil is shallow, a large number of shelters.

Telescope. There are several types of telescopes: scaleless and scaly.

Goldfish got their name from the eyes of their characteristic shape – they are big, bulging, in the shape of a cone, cylinder or ball. Telescopes grow up to 12 centimeters in length, they have an egg-shaped body, with long fins.

Caudal and anal fin forked. Coloring may be different: black, red, calico, orange.

The water temperature in the aquarium telescopes should not exceed 25 degrees, pH 5.0-7.0, should be filtered and aeration, large soil, a sufficient number of plants and shelters.

Lionhead. Very beautiful fish with a short rounded body.

The tail fin and back form an acute angle. At the age of 3 months in fish in the area of the upper part of the head and gills appear growths. They are skin seals and look like a lion’s mane.

From the oranda lionheads differ in size. Often the growths are so large that they close the eyes of the fish. The color of the fish is most often orange-red or gold, but there are also white varieties.

One individual should account for 50 liters of water, the water temperature in the aquarium – up to 23 degrees, hardness up to 18, pH 6-7.

Ryukin. These fish are also called nymphs, translated from Japanese “ryukin” means “gold”.

In fish, the egg-shaped body is of small size, as well as large fins. In the aquarium, they grow to 20 centimeters. The head is rather massive, with big eyes.

If you look at the back of the fish, you will see a characteristic “hump” from the dorsal fin to the head. It is believed that the longer the fins, the more valuable the individual.

The tail fin is forked and large enough, the rest are smaller, rounded. The colors can be calico, mottled, pink, white, red.

These are rather slow-moving fish, they do not tolerate low temperatures, so the aquarium should be well heated (24-28 degrees).

Vakin. The standard of this fish was never recognized in the USA and the UK.

According to experts, a wakin is a prototype of a goldfish that differs from an ordinary individual only by a forked tail. In an aquarium, these fish can grow up to 30 centimeters, they are not too sensitive to temperature changes, therefore they are suitable for keeping in an ornamental pond.

Goldfish are in the top 10 of the most popular and unpretentious aquarium fish:
