Aquarium fish Girinoheylus: keeping and breeding

Dear colleagues. Today there will be a small post about aquarium fish girinoheylus.

Recently, I have noticed that girinohailus has become very popular with aquarists. And indeed, in terms of the quality of cleaning of the aquarium, the girinohailus are second to them after the ototsyncluses.

Previously, I did not keep such fish, I managed with ordinary antsistrus.

In nature, the girinohailus can reach thirty centimeters in length, and in aquariums usually more than 15 centimeters do not grow. There are two types of girinohaylusov – one yellow, the second – olive color with a black stripe along the whole body.

This interesting fish has one interesting moment – when breathing the fish’s mouth is not involved. Instead, in its gills there are special openings through which the girinoheylus breathes. Like antsistrusov, these fish have a mouth-sucker with wide lips and hard rough plates as well.

In principle, the structure of the mouth is similar to the other fish-suckers. As you may have guessed, the girinokhailus are considered to be the orderlies of aquariums and they collect all the muck from the walls of the aquarium, plants and stones.

Girinoheylus is a rather mobile and aggressive fish, especially in relation to its congeners. The whole day the fish spends in cleaning your aquarium from fouling and other nastiness.

If you decide to get yourself these nurses, then you need to take them taking into account 1 fish for 20-30 liters of water. Just do not need to buy girinohaylusov if you already have large phlegmatic fish like discus or scalar.

Your cleaner will try to clean them too, considering them to be the object of your aquarium, and this in turn may contribute to damage to their scales.

Enough aggressive gerinokhailusy in relation to their relatives. I have two pairs: one is olive and the other is yellow.

So, the female of olive color vymahala centimeters 12 in length and constantly rides the other three pieces. Fish is very territorial.

As with most hydrobionts, the girinohailus need constantly changing water, preferably one quarter of the volume every week. Fish feed mainly on plant food: scalded lettuce leaves, spinach, and so on, they simply go to ur. Sometimes do not disdain moth fell to the bottom of the aquarium.

If you feed them exclusively with live food, you may overeat.

To breed guillocheus, you will need an aquarium of liters so for 200, or more. At the bottom of the aquarium, a separator screen is installed, and in the corner of the jar, install a filter to create water movement.

For spawning, the female is taken with a full belly and a pair of males.

In order for the girinohailus to spawn, water must have the following properties:

– water temperature 24 degrees;

– water hardness of 4-5 units;

– acidity 6-8 pH.

You can also stimulate the fish to spawn by injecting hormones. At any time, the female girinohailus can sweep away more than 3 thousand eggs. As soon as the female brushed off the eggs, it is better to transfer the white eggs (healthy ones) immediately to a special bailout.

The incubation period of caviar day. The offspring and the eggs of the gyrinoheylus are highly susceptible to fungal infections, so experienced aquarists recommend adding methylene blue to the water. Fry are fed with small vegetable food or rotifers.

Girinohaylusy reach sexual maturity at the age of 2-3 years.
