Copper tetra or Hasemania (Hasemania Nana) inhabits the southeastern part of Brazil and belongs to the family of the Haracid. The characteristic difference of this fish is a body elongated in length, slightly flattened at the sides. Males and females have a different color: in males it is silver-blue, in females it is greenish-yellow.
During spawning, fish scales acquire a copper-red hue, which, in fact, gave the name to this species.

Fish grow in the aquarium to 5 centimeters.

These are schooling fish, which it is desirable to keep in groups of 8 or more individuals. You can create a common or specific aquarium, whose length is more than 60 centimeters. Small peaceful individuals can become neighbors of a copper tetra.
In the aquarium should be aeration, filter, overgrown plants and floating algae, once a week you need to change about 20% of the volume of water. Food for tetra – live or substitutes.
If you want to dissolve the copper tetra, you will need an aquarium with a separator net on the bottom and bushes of small-leaved plants (Java moss or peristristum is quite suitable). The water temperature should be 24-27 degrees, the acidity of 6-6.6. Two weeks before spawning, males and females are seated and fed abundantly.
Spawning can take place for one or several pairs. Fishes are planted in the aquarium in the evening, and in the morning they start spawning, which can last several days. The female lays up to 400 eggs, after which the producers are removed, and the spawn is put in a dark place.
After 1-2 days the larvae hatch, and after 3-4 days they begin to swim. Optimal nutrition for fry – ciliates and rotifers.
