Ancistrus ordinary (Ancistrus dolichopterus) – This is a small fish (up to 14 cm), whose habitat is South America, Peru, Venezuela. Representatives of this family were brought to Russia at the end of the 70s and since then they are popular with aquarists.
The body of ancistrus ordinary in form resembles a flattened drop, which is crowned with a wide head. The body is covered with wide bone plates, the color can vary from dark gray to black with light patches.

They love tender and soft algae, which are scraped off from stones, driftwood and plant leaves. Antsistrusov have well-developed parental instincts – after the female lays eggs, the male protects the clutch, diligently incubates the eggs, waves its fins, and protects from enemies.
