Hello, dear readers of my blog. Today, the post will be about the shrimp called yellow pearl. This type of shrimp in nature does not occur at all, since it is artificially derived from Neocardina Heteropoda, or Neocardina Heteropod.
Source shrimp is a wild species, but for an aquarium it will be problematic to get it. I already have an article on the blog about a relative of this shrimp.
You can view the post here.
Yellow pearl shrimp belongs to a group of small shrimps, the size of which does not exceed three centimeters. This is the only species that has a bright yellow color. But the pure yellow color is not always found, shades of salad and light green colors mostly prevail.
As the shrimp ages, its color gradually changes to bright orange. The maximum lifespan of a yellow shrimp is two years.
I would like to note the extremely high fecundity of this shrimp. However, a similar feature can be seen in red cherries. With those that others, females constantly roam the aquarium with caviar.
The ripening period of caviar is about 3-4 weeks, after which the young are born, which is barely noticeable, since it is almost completely transparent and microscopic in size. As in most cases of aquatic inhabitants, yellow shrimp females grow larger than males.
How to distinguish males from females?
If you look closely, then the females can see the yellow saddle, or the so-called volumetric abdomen, where caviar will be stored. In addition, the males will be slightly slimmer their ladies)
Like red cherries, yellow shrimp are lodged to peace-loving small fishes, such as red neons. Do not forget about the dense planting of aquarium plants, shelters of stones and snags.
If the feed is not enough, then in the nooks of the shrimp will feast on algae. If you decide to get yourself yellow shrimp, then do not forget to maintain the purity of the aquarium environment, regularly change the clean water, turn on the filter and the aerator.
In no case do not lodge shrimp with fish such as fighting or cichlids, as they will not mind eating small shrimps.
The only large fish that will not touch the yellow shrimp are various catfish-suckers, such as antsistrusov, girinoheylusov and ottsinklyusov. The minimum amount of aquarium required for keeping yellow shrimp must be at least 10 liters. The best is a 20-30 liter aquarium.
If the bank is smaller, there may be problems with maintaining biological balance. It’s funny sometimes to watch the shrimp: sit in front of the aquarium and watch how they crawl in the ground in search of something tasty. The optimal water temperature for the normal well-being of shrimp is 22-26 degrees Celsius.
If the temperature is lower, the shrimp can stop eating.
I want to note one thing: the high concentration of ammonium and nitrates in aquarium water strongly influences the welfare of shrimps. It is for this reason that you should not start shrimp in a newly launched aquarium. Here I have a couple of articles, I advise you to read:
I think these articles will help you. So, rushed on.
You started the aquarium, now be patient for a couple of weeks and you can start yourself yellow shrimp. During the content of the red cherries, I noticed that they are pretty good orderlies aquarium. In addition to the fact that they pick up all the unfinished food from the bottom with fish, they are not against the algae as well.
If there is a tension in the algae aquarium, periodically feed them with special pills. They are perfectly bursting with girinohailus, swordtails, and mollies.
I have already said that shrimps multiply very quickly, but I repeat once more. I have a population of red cherries from 10 pieces grew for some 2 months to countless.
It got to the point that with the siphon of the soil I just poured them into the toilet. But lately, maybe a month or two ago, I saw that the shrimp population in the aquarium has noticeably decreased. The reason as it turned out was highly chlorinated water.
Despite the fact that she defended, apparently it was heavily chlorinated and my shrimp diminished. But now I do not observe such a trend.
If you want to grow them and earn some penny on it, then it is better to get a small aquarium for breeding, 20-30 liters so and let it be specially for shrimps. The appliance will receive constantly without making any effort. Large fish in a jar of shrimp do not advise to lodge, as they will eat the youngs already running.
Do not forget to put in the aquarium-shrimp all the necessary aquarium equipment, it is very important.
And on this wonderful note, I have to say goodbye to you, to wish your good mood and a good day. Thank you for your attention and see you soon, friends.
